This festival will celebrate more than 1000 years of Wigan history, covering the town’s history from the Romans right up to the present day. It will feature a temporary pop-up cinema and a lecture theatre. Organiser Mervyn Reeves says, ‘The event will be open 10am-4pm on both days. There will be displays staffed by experts showing the history of Wigan, with plenty to see, handle and hear about. A cinema will run throughout the two days, with speakers during the whole period. Entrance is free. You can also enjoy a guided tour of the historic parish church.’
The festival will be officially opened by the Mayor of Wigan on Friday 26th April at 11am.
