Wigan East

Wigan East, also known as Chapelfields, is made up of seven established church buildings and some new worshipping communities.

all saints, hindley

All Saints is the historic mother church in the Hindley area dating back to 1641. It is traditional in style, situated in the middle of a deprived housing estate and across from The Banner pub with whom we have started working with as part of our outreach and mission programme. All Saints has great links with the schools in the area and with two Brownie and one Beaver/Scout group.

BY THIS SHALL ALL PEOPLE KNOW THAT YOU ARE MY DISCIPLES, IF YOU HAVE LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER.

More information about All Saint’s can be found on their dedicated A Church Near You page.

st peter's, hindley

St Peter’s is located on the crossroads in the busy town centre of Hindley. Given its prominent situation, it is a popular venue for baptisms and weddings.

Worship at St. Peter’s is traditional yet relaxed, its mixed congregation offering a friendly and inclusive welcome. This includes children for whom there are activities to ensure everyone is involved, and there are strong links with local schools and youth organisations.

GOD’S LOVE IS THE KEY TO OUR FAITH

More information about St Peter’s can be found on their dedicated A Church Near You page.

st john's, hindley green

As well as seven youth organisations there are adult fellowship groups endeavouring to bring a larger number of people to know Jesus. There are close links with the local primary schools and the children are welcomed into church several times a term. There is a willingness to forge ever-greater unity with all the worshipping communities within Chapelfields and across Church Wigan and a desire to celebrate the gift of life spiritually and socially.

st nathaniels, platt bridge

St Nathaniel’s, the parish church of Platt Bridge, has seen growth over the last few years, with a heart for mission to its community centred on its Food Pantry that meets weekly. It also hosts the Next Generation worshipping community Come+See that serves the needs of young adults and regularly reaches out to the young people of the local estate. Its warm welcome and informal style of worship helps it connect with a widening spectrum of ages.

More information about St Nathaniel’s can be found on their dedicated A Church Near You page.

Come + See

A worshipping community for all ages serving the needs of younger people. It meets for worship and discussion on a Sunday evening, with midweek gatherings for discipleship and board games and regular community outreach.

st john's, abram

St John’s is located in the former mining village of Abram close to Platt Bridge and is also known as Abram Parish Church. It is growing, with an increasing diversity in its membership, an openness to new ideas and joy in worship. It has an excellent relationship with St Johns CE primary school hosting services throughout the year and a bustling community café for Breakfast on Wednesday morning.

st james and st elizabeth, bickershaw

St James and St Elizabeth is located in Bickershaw and is also known as Bickershaw Parish Church. It is a traditional church in the small outlying village of Bickershaw, between Abram and Hindley. It has a small but faithful congregation with very close links to the church school built behind the church building. This includes school going into church every week for collective worship which is class-led and well attended by parents.

More information about St James and St Elizabeth’s can be found on their dedicated A Church Near You page.

the good shepherd, bamfurlong

The Church of The Good Shepherd is the mission church serving the village of Bamfurlong. It was a church plant from nearby St Nathaniel’s set up in a newer built complex including worship space, hall, kitchen and outside space in the small village of Bamfurlong which sits between Platt Bridge and Ashton.

Worship in the tradition of the Church of England happens once a month, and at other times is led by our good friends from Family Of Hope Church.
