Lifted

‘Can I give you a lift with that?’ is the Wigan way of offering help.

Lifted is Church Wigan’s network of social justice ministries – seeking justice, meeting need, lifting people, serving others.

community pantries

Our growing network of pantries offers social shopping to 2,350 members in seven locations across Wigan and its surrounding towns and villages. Pantries are not foodbanks but clubs where members can buy great quality yet ‘short-dated’ products which would otherwise end up in landfill – saving both money and the planet! In 2024 Lifted pantries saved members £466,000 on their weekly shop.

Our pantries also offer a warm space where you can connect with friendly faces, get a brew (some offer meals) and, if you want, receive prayer and explore the good news of Jesus.

cap debt
centre

Church Wigan’s partnership with national charity CAP (Christians Against Poverty) is an important aspect of our Lifted ministry that seeks justice, meets need, lifts people and serves others. Although less than a year old, our CAP Debt Centre has a growing team of volunteers and has recently celebrated a land-mark achievement: several clients have become debt free, with over £120,000 of debt written off. We are really grateful for our CAP team and supporters for enabling this ministry of hope and freedom!

ACTS 435

Acts 435 is an online giving charity, opening up a different way to support those people around us who have urgent, small or specific needs up to £200 (such as a bed, white goods or utility bills).

The website connects those who want to give with those who are in genuine need of their help, free of charge to UK churches and charities.

These needs are raised anonymously on the website through designated Acts 435 Advocates and anyone can then donate towards the requests via the Acts 435 website: www.acts435.org.uk.

Acts 435 is primarily about meeting those needs, but through the financial support people have received they have also had their self-esteem boosted and have seen God’s love in action.

To find out more please go on the Acts 435 website and to raise a request please contact our Acts 435 Advocates:
