Wigan North East

Wigan North East’s worshipping community is made up of 4 church buildings; St David’s, St John the Baptist, St Stephen’s and St Elizabeth’s and other worship communities.

st davids, haigh

St David’s serves the community of Haigh and Aspull. Our Sunday worship is largely traditional in style and content.

At St David we seek to be a warm and welcoming community for all. Our Sunday services are at 9.15am. On the 1st Sunday of the month we join with all the other churches in the parish at 10am at one of the four buildings in the parish. The 2nd and 4th Sundays of each are a traditional communion service, the 3rd being a morning of worship.

We have established links with St David’s Church of England Primary School and host regular school services.

More information about St David’s can be found on their dedicated A Church Near You page.

st john the baptist, new springs

St John’s serves the community of New Springs. Our Sunday worship is traditional in both style and content. There is currently no provision for children or young people within our Sunday worship.

More information about St John the Baptist can be found on their dedicated A Church Near You page.

3 T's (Tea, Toast & Talk)

3T’s (Tea, Toast & Talk) is a group for all over 55’s to share faith, fellowship, food and making crafts.

They meet once a month on Thursday (usually the first Thursday of the month) at St John’s Church, New Springs 10.30-12pm (refreshments from 10am)

st stephens, whelley

St Stephen’s serves the community in and around Whelley and, partnering with all of the other churches in the parish we host JED’s Pantry and a welcoming warm space provision.

We are largely traditional in our style of worship, however our all-age service on every third Sunday is much more informal.

We aim to be, and have been told by others, that we are an opening and welcoming community.

After JED’s Pantry there is a Pantry Journey Group at St Stephen’s. Get in touch if this is something you want to get involved in.

More information about St Stephen’s can be found on their dedicated A Church Near You page.

St Elizabeth's, aspull

St Elizabeth’s serves the community in and around Aspull and we have many long established community links. We are  relaxed, traditional in our style of Sunday worship where we sing more modern songs alongside traditional hymns. We seek to be a welcome community for all ages.

On 2nd Sunday we have an all age service which is much more informal in style and on 4th Sunday our ‘Lighthouse’ Sunday School meets alongside our service. On the 3rd Monday of alternate months, partnering with all of the other churches in the parish, we also host Messy Church in the parish hall.

More information about St Elizabeth’s can be found on their dedicated A Church Near You page.
