When a loved one dies, we all want the opportunity to express our grief and give thanks for their life. Church Wigan is privileged to conduct the funeral service for your loved one, either in one of our Church buildings, at a Crematorium or at the graveside.
To arrange a funeral, please speak to your Funeral Director and they will contact the Church Wigan office on your behalf where we will make all the arrangements.
Once the funeral has been confirmed one of our ministers will make contact and then come and visit to discuss the service with you so it appropriately reflects your loved one’s life.
Burials of Ashes
When you are ready to inter the ashes of your loved ones you can either contact your Funeral Director or the Church Wigan Funeral Coordinator directly on 01942 705641 or funeral.coordinator@churchwigan.org and we will be able to arrange a date and time that suits your family and friends.
Headstones / Memorials
To have a headstone or memorial placed in a church graveyard (known as a churchyard), first contact a stone mason and discuss your options with them. Churchyards are regulated by law and there are guidelines on the type and style of memorial. Generally, the law mandates that those who were either resident in the parish or died in the parish, or were on the electoral roll (ie. a church member) are permitted to be interred in a parish churchyard.
Once you have chosen an appropriate design, the stone mason will apply for the permit required to have your headstone, vase, plaque or additional inscription installed.
