Faith & Feast Summer Spectacular Fun Day

Archbishop Stephen Cottrell coined the phrase “mixed ecology” in the early 2020s to describe the rich variety of expressions of Christian life and gathered church within the body of Christ. In Church Wigan, we are blessed to experience this mixed ecology firsthand, where traditional expressions of church sit alongside, and flourish, with more contemporary forms of worshipping community, including school-based communities and youth groups.
“Faith & Feast” is one such fresh expression of church. Born out of Holy Trinity Church and rooted in the school next door, Rectory Primary School, Faith & Feast brings local families together each month to explore faith in a fun, accessible and relatable way. By creating space for faith, friendship and food, the group offers a welcoming expression of church that meets families where they are and enables them to discover what it means to follow Jesus together.
This Summer, the group celebrated their church/school connection with a ‘Faith and Feast Summer Spectacular Fun Day’, which was not only attended by an incredible amount of local families, but also the new Bishop of Warrington, Bishop Simon Robinson!

What a wonderful afternoon we shared at our Faith & Feast Summer Spectacular Fun Day! It was a joy to welcome children, families, friends and neighbours from across our community for an afternoon full of laughter, friendship and fun.

There was something for everyone to enjoy, from free BBQ food and inflatables to crafts, games, music and entertainment. The event created a welcoming space where people of all ages could spend time together, make new friends and experience the warmth of our church family. Approx 300 people came!
Faith & Feast continues to be about more than just activities – it is about sharing God’s love through hospitality, community and belonging. We are so grateful to everyone who volunteered, donated, prepared food, ran activities and helped make the day such a success. Your generosity and enthusiasm made all the difference.
